ORIENT EXPRESS
         LA MINERVA

In the heart of Rome, where history intertwines with modern luxury, Orient Express La Minerva offers a timeless escape in the Eternal City. Situated in the iconic Piazza della Minerva, this XVIIth -century Palace—now part of the world-renowned Orient Express family—blends Rome’s glorious past with an exciting future.
With a rich history, an illustrious architectural heritage, and an exceptional interior design inspired by both classical and contemporary elegance, the hotel offers an unparalleled experience for those seeking to immerse themselves in the Orient Express Art of Travel.

Originally built in 1620 as the residence of the prestigious Portuguese Fonseca family, the building became one of Rome’s most luxurious hotels in 1811. Just steps from the Pantheon, this grand hotel soon became a favorite among aristocrats, artists, and intellectuals who sought refuge in its opulent halls.

The hotel welcomed many notable figures over the years such as writer Herman Melville, an adventurer and globetrotter. French writer Stendhal stayed there for a few months, a trip that inspired him to write his “Roman Walks”.
George Sand also fell in love with Italy and spent a lot of time there in 1855 while writer Thomas Bernhard stayed at the location with Murau, the character of his novel, “Extinction”.

"La Minerva is one of the most historical and world-renowned hotels in Rome, loved by locals and object of desire by International travellers."
